Pelvic Health Appointments

Problems with continence, prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction are incredibly common. During your 75 minute appointment we will take a full history, discuss your specific problems and what you want to achieve.

We will then assess you, which includes an internal examination where appropriate. This will enable us to understand what factors are contributing to your problem and enable us to develop a tailored treatment plan.

Your treatment plan may include a muscle strengthening programme, techniques to improve your symptoms, lifestyle advice and lots of reassurance. A digital copy of your treatment plan will be provided to you. Follow up appointments may be recommended as indicated.

Our Postnatal Check Up

With years of both professional and personal experience of childbirth and parenting, we understand both how wonderful but also how demanding this time can be. All too often we neglect our own health needs for that of our bundles of joy!  It is common but NOT normal to have some difficulties post birth. As a rule of thumb, the sooner you seek help the better. We are here to help your postnatal recovery.

We can help you with:

  • Pelvic floor problems

  • Bladder or bowel weakness

  • Vaginal Prolapse

  • Pain from perineal scar tissue

  • Obstetric anal sphincter injuries ( 3rd and 4th degree tears)

  • Postnatal painful intercourse

  • Starting and / or returning safely to exercise

  • Caesarean section recovery or scar tissue problems

  • Abdominal muscle separation (diastasis rectus abdominus)

During your 75 minute postnatal check up we will take a full history, discuss your specific problems and goals. We will then assess your posture, check for diastasis rectus abdominus (tummy muscle separation), assess c-section scars and assess your pelvic floor muscle (with optional internal examination). Your personalised treatment may consist of exercises and lifestyle advice and you will receive a digital copy of this. Occasionally a follow up consultation will be recommended.
